What do your tours include? 

Our tours include a local guide, transportation (either bicycle or vehicle), visits to a minimum of 3 wineries, a minimum of 9 tastings, a guided tour of the vineyard/barrel cellar at one winery, and a light snack/water (lunch not included). 

Do we need to tip our tour guides?

Tips are not included in the tour price and is entirely at your discretion. Our guides will happily accept any token of your appreciation if you enjoy the tour. For larger custom or company tours, gratuity will be added to the overall cost.

Do your tours include lunch? 

Our tours do not include lunch, so please ensure you eat before you arrive (although we will provide a snack). If you’re booking a company tour or custom tour we can include lunch as an add-on. Lunch options include wood-oven pizza and a picnic charcuterie basket. There is also food/snacks available for purchase at wineries along the way.

How many people can you accommodate on your tours?

We can accommodate up to 9 people on our cycling tours, and up to 11 people on our driving tours. If you have a larger tour group please reach out and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Where is the meeting point for your tours?

Our meeting point is at 81 Cleminson St., Wellington, ON, K0K 3L0 (Wellington Store & Lock).

Do you offer pickup and drop-off for your tours?

We do not offer pick-up or drop-off for our cycling tours, but we can provide taxi info if you need to get to/from the meeting point. We do offer pick-up and drop-off for our driving tours.

How long are your tours?

Our tours are approximately 4-5 hours.

How much cycling is involved in your tours?

There is a total of about 18km of cycling (about 1 hour 15 minutes) spread over the full 4 hour tour. The terrain is quite flat.

What should we wear on our tour?

If you’re doing a cycling tour, wear comfortable shoes (we recommend wearing closed-toe shoes or sandals that are securely strapped on your feet), and dress for the weather. Please do not wear flip flops as you will be biking 18km. For driving tours, wear whatever your heart desires (but please, wear something).  

Which wineries will we visit?

The wineries you’ll visit depend on whether you’re doing a driving tour or cycling tour, and on availability for bookings at that winery. We always try to include a mix of small wineries and larger wineries, and we always try to include wineries that have a unique story or experience. If you’re booking a custom or group tour and you have a request for a specific winery, please let us know after you’ve booked and we’ll do our best to accommodate. Please note that some wineries are outside of biking distance, so will only be visited on driving tours.

How many tastings are included in the tour?

You’ll taste a minimum of 9 wines on your tour.

Do you offer brewery tours?

We know not everyone is a wino, so we’re proud to offer the first guided brewery tours in The County (coming soon). Brewery tours are only available on our driving tours – our cycling tours can include one brewery visit (the only one within cycling distance).

 We’re organizing a company retreat – can you arrange a custom tour for us?

Absolutely – we love hosting company groups, and we can help you organize a full day of activities including lunch and meeting space at one of the wineries.

We’re celebrating a bachelorette/birthday/anniversary or other special event – what do you offer for groups?

We can book out a full tour for your group, and work with you to add on extras like lunch. Just get in touch and we can help organize an itinerary that works.

What happens if it’s raining and we’re booked on one of your cycling tours?

We can’t control the weather, although we wish we could! Our cycling tours operate rain or shine, and we only cancel them if it’s pouring rain. If we do cancel, we’ll notify you the morning of the tour. If we can accommodate you in our vehicle that day we will, and if not, we’ll provide a voucher for a tour at a later date or a full refund.

What is your cancellation policy?

We do not offer a refund for cancellation notice given less than 5 days prior to tour date. We offer a 50% refund for notice given between 5 and 10 days prior to tour date or option to get a voucher for another date, and 100% refund for cancellations made 10 days prior to tour date.

Note that tours are subject to a minimum of 2 participants to run. In the event The County Wine Tours has to cancel a tour due to an insufficient number of participants, you are entitled to a full refund or have the option to apply those funds toward another tour.

How old do you have to be to participate?

You need to be 19+ to participate in our tours. We reserve the right to ask for ID before the tour starts.

Is there a place to leave my personal belongings during the tour?

You are responsible for your personal belongings and wine purchased during the tour. We accept no responsibility for the theft, loss or damage to personal belongings or wine purchases at any time during the duration of your tour.

Can you recommend other activities in the area?

Here are a few must-dos:

  • Visit the town of Bloomfield and browse at the boutiques, antique stores, and galleries – and don’t forget to grab an ice cream cone from Slickers!
  • Visit over 25+ art galleries and studios on the Arts Trail.
  • Visit Sandbanks Provincial Park – bring a beach towel and relax at the beach all day.
  • Get a great photo at Lake on the Mountain park – a lake perched 200 feet above the Bay of Quinte. You can also grab a bite at Miller House or The Inn – great views!
  • Enjoy some local cider at County Cider Co.
