The Top Restaurants in Wellington, Prince Edward County

Prince Edward County may be known for its wineries, but increasingly it’s equally as well known for its food. Chefs like Jamie Kennedy now call The County home, and there are lots of great restaurants in Picton, Bloomfield, and Wellington. Since our tours kick off in Wellington, we’ve pulled together our top places to eat after your tour. Whether you’re looking for a new trendy place or a romantic date night, The County has you covered.

These are our top recommendations for where to grab a bite in Prince Edward County:

1. The Courage

The Courage opened recently after taking over a former cafe on the main drag in Wellington. The space is trendy and very Instagrammable, and the restaurant offers some of the best brunch and lunch options in the area (we love the grilled cheese!). You can go for coffee in the morning, or head there for cocktails after your tour. They’ve just revamped their brunch menu too, offering delicious dishes like Pork Belly Eggs Benny and the Canadian Hangover Cure (peameal, egg, and cheddar sandwiched between buttermilk pancakes). Great for small or large groups, and we recommend making a reservation.

2. Enid Grace Cafe

Modelled after a rural Italian cafe, Enid’s is  a new addition to Wellington’s main strip, and it’s the perfect spot to go in the morning before heading out for a day of wine tastings. Their homemade pastries are mouthwatering (we love their bagels and croissants) and they offer a number of breakfast options using their homemade bread. Just get there early – they often sell out of popular options (plus it’s pretty tiny, so getting there early ensures you’ll have a seat). If you’re getting a bit of a later start to the day, their soup and sandwich lunch options are great too.

3. Pomodoro

For the pasta lovers out there, Pomodoro is a go-to spot for authentic Italian (and it’s where we had our celebration dinner when we launched The County Wine Tours!). Head to Pomodoro to share a few appetizers (their charcuterie tray is great) and dig into a big bowl of gnocchi to cap off your day in The County. Just don’t forget they’re only open Friday through to Tuesday from 11:30 AM to 9:00 PM. This is also a great romantic spot if you’re looking to have a date night!

4. Drake Devonshire

This hotspot to stay in The County also happens to have a top-notch restaurant on-site. Known for their brunch, we recommend trying the Breakfast Burger, Devonshire Eggs Benny, or Chicken and Waffles while you’re there. Top it off with one of their famous Caesars (we have many times!), and we recommend enjoying your beverage out on the patio, or down by the water on one of the benches. The view is as good as the food. Reservations highly recommended – it gets busy!

5. East & Main

In downtown Wellington you’ll find our favourite high-end bistro. East & Main is open Wednesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner and offer a wide variety of delicious appetizers, mains, and desserts. This is the perfect spot to go if you’re in The County celebrating a birthday or anniversary, or another special occasion.

6. Soup Opera

Located in downtown Wellington, the Soup Opera is a good spot if you’re looking for lunch or dinner – and it’s so much more than soup! Their menu offers many seasonally-inspired dishes, daily specials, and you can even take home some of their favourite ingredients by shopping at their market.

7. The Duke of Wellington

If you’re on the hunt for a traditional pub, The Duke of Wellington is the spot. Located right on the water, they offer pub fare right in the heart of the Wellington marina. It’s lunch or dinner with a view.

8. Rock’n Rogers
If a classic diner is more your style, Rock’n Rogers is a locally-owned crowd favourite in The County. It’s the perfect spot to cure a hangover with a hearty breakfast or grab a take-out pizza if you’re spending the night in (it’s our go-to spot for take-out pizza).
