Top Restaurants in Wellington, Prince Edward County

Prince Edward County may be known for its wineries, but increasingly it’s equally as well known for its food. Chefs like Jamie Kennedy now call The County home, and there are lots of great restaurants in Picton, Bloomfield, and Wellington. Since our tours kick off in Wellington, we’ve pulled together our top places to eat after your tour. Whether you’re looking for a new trendy place or a romantic date night, The County has you covered.

These are our top recommendations for where to grab a bite in Prince Edward County:

1. Creekside Cafe

Creekside Cafe serves up Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch in Wellington from Thursday – Monday. Think big breakfast plates, beautiful benny’s, waffles and more. Our faves are the Dutch Baby and the eggs benny. They also have a full cocktail list and classics like mimosas. No reservations.

2. The Lakeside Motel

Beautiful patio overlooking Lake Ontario with delicious bites. Be sure to make a reservation to secure a spot during the busy summer season.

349 Main Street, Wellington ON K0K 3L0

3. Drake Devonshire

This hotspot to stay in The County also happens to have a top-notch restaurant on-site. Known for their brunch, we recommend trying the Breakfast Burger, Devonshire Eggs Benny, or Chicken and Waffles while you’re there. Top it off with one of their famous Caesars (we have many times!), and we recommend enjoying your beverage out on the patio, or down by the water on one of the benches. The view is as good as the food. Reservations highly recommended – it gets busy!

4. East & Main

In downtown Wellington you’ll find our favourite high-end bistro. East & Main is open Wednesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner and offer a wide variety of delicious appetizers, mains, and desserts. This is the perfect spot to go if you’re in The County celebrating a birthday or anniversary, or another special occasion.

5. La Condesa

La Condesa is a newer addition to Prince Edward County. Replacing Courage Bar, La Condesa specializes in Mexican cuisine. The vibrant interior is enough to get you in the door, but the food and cocktails will keep you coming back. Beverages range from five different types of margaritas, a variety of cocktails, and watermelon rosé sangria (yum!!). To pair with your delicious drinks, there are several times of tacos (7 to be exact!). The vegan chorizo taco is incredible, as is the Pollo Asado (chicken marinated in adobo, onion, and cilantro). Fancy something other than tacos? The expansive menu also includes enchiladas, quesadillas, tostadas, guacamole, ceviche, queso fundido, and more. And don’t forget to leave room for dessert – traditional Tres Leches cake! Currently, La Condesa is open Friday to Sunday only for lunch and dinner.

6. Midtown Brewing Company

Midtown has a great sunny patio and a large indoor space where you can try out their in-house brew, or enjoy other local beers from around The County. They also make a mean Negroni (which you can sip on while you munch on oysters and charcuterie). Bonus: you can shop for local produce and other products in Midtown’s local market shop.

7. North Docks

Restaurant at the marina with a great view of West Lake. Pub staples and a casual atmosphere.

153 Wellington Main St, Wellington, ON K0K 3L0

8. Rock’n Rogers
If a classic diner is more your style, Rock’n Rogers is a locally-owned crowd favourite in The County. It’s the perfect spot to cure a hangover with a hearty breakfast or grab a take-out pizza if you’re spending the night in (it’s our go-to spot for take-out pizza).
